چکیده

Objective: To compare patients who received preoperative intravenous (IV) plus postoperative maintenance IV tranexamic acid (TXA) therapy and perioperative periarticular TXA to those did not receive during total knee arthroplasty (TKA) in terms of blood loss, transfusion requirements, length hospital stay.
Material Method: Data from 194 underwent TKA between 2016 2019 were reviewed. A 106 included. Twenty-one male, 95 female. The divided into three groups: Group 1 (n=37) that TXA, 2 (n=35) therapy, 3 (n=34) TXA. groups similar regarding demographic data. Statistical comparisons the made concerning decrease hemoglobin levels on days 3, need for transfusion, Results: mean first third 1.69(±1.13) 2.94(±1.14)g/dl, 1, 1.41(±0.99) 2.44(±1.28)g/dl, 2, 1.24(±0.83) 2.21(±0.84)g/dl respectively. statistical comparison revealed a significant difference Groups day(p

Intraarticular Administration of Tranexamic Acid Following Total Knee Arthroplasty: A Case-control Study

Background:  Tranexamic acid (TXA) has received extensive attention in management of blood loss in orthopedic surgeries. However, the ideal method of TXA administration is still controversial. This study aims to determine whether intraarticular injection of TXA reduces blood loss after total knee arthroplasty (TKA).   Methods:  Through a retrospective case-control study consecutive TKA patients...

The combined effect of administration of intravenous and topical tranexamic acid on blood loss and transfusion rate in total knee arthroplasty

OBJECTIVES Tranexamic acid (TXA) is an antifibrinolytic agent used as a blood-sparing technique in total knee arthroplasty (TKA), and is routinely administered by intravenous (IV) or intra-articular (IA) injection. Recently, a novel method of TXA administration, the combined IV and IA application of TXA, has been applied in TKA. However, the scientific evidence of combined administration of TXA...
